ADENOMYOMATOSIS

Adenomyomatosis is a condition of increased growth and thickening of the inner layer of the gallbladder wall. It is caused by inflammation and may present as an isolated finding on gallbladder ultrasound or in association with gallstones.

The condition is caused by chronic inflammation of the gallbladder lining and may be associated with similar symptoms to gallstones.

Treatment

Adenomyomatosis is often treated with laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
