Cholangiocarcinoma is a cancer that arises from bile ducts. When this occurs within the liver, it is called an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This is a disease that tends to present late, at an advanced stage, and appearances may be difficult to distinguish from other liver cancers. Treatment depends on the extent and stage of disease and may include surgical resection, embolization, and chemotherapy.
